Hilton Garden Inn

SERVICES RMG ENGINEERS PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT

  • Construction Materials Testing (CMT)

After more than 40 years, when a new hotel project was set to rise from the ground up in downtown Colorado Springs, New Vision Hotels turned to RMG to ensure flawless execution. RMG Engineers was contracted to provide Special Inspection and Construction Material Testing (CMT) for the Hilton Garden Inn, a 10-story, 165-room hotel. The new facility will feature retail shops on the ground floor, a restaurant on the second floor, about 5,000 square feet of meeting space, and guest rooms on the upper floors.

RMG’s role included inspecting reinforcing steel and all post-tension slab work—covering tendon placement, stressing, and elongation—as well as verifying the use of the required concrete design mix. Our team managed concrete placement throughout construction, inspected formwork for proper shape, location, and dimensions, and conducted extensive material testing. This included testing masonry unit blocks, mortar, prisms, and grout; observing the placement of reinforcement and connectors for CMU construction; performing AWS weld inspections; and testing concrete for strength, slump, air content, and temperature. We also carried out continuous inspections of the installation of composite slab decking and roof decking to ensure quality and compliance.
