Geotechnical Engineering
Construction Materials Testing (CMT)
Project Snapshot
Commercial retail developments don’t have to be boring and nondescript. They can, in fact, have a creativity and a flair that can turn them into destinations. Case in point: RMG Engineer’s geotechnical engineering and Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services worked with CKW Properties, Western States Management Group, and NFE Engineering Services on the development and construction of a 7,440 square foot commercial retail building slated for four tenants including an established Domino’s Pizza. The site provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Cheyenne Mountain range in Colorado Springs and the on-site landscaping — with its special attention to a perennial spring bloom — goes above and beyond what one might expect from a commercial development.
In addition to soil investigations completed by our geotechnical engineering and CMT teams, RMG’s civil engineering department led the charge for design of the site, managed all grading and drainage specifications and all utilities, oversaw erosion and sediment control, and guided the GC and owner through the requirements set forth by the local county. Design elements for storm water runoff and detention were revised by RMG for county compliance which included refurbishment of the existing downstream detention pond.
